F22 Men’s Essentials
Fall season has hit and it’s no surprise that the essential layering and autumn colour-tones are making their annual comeback. Just as trends come, fall 2022 has a different twist, especially when it comes to men’s fashion. From the classy looks of the past becoming the casual looks of today to patterns making their comeback, let's jump into what this fall season has in store for us.
Gorpcore
Brands such as Arc’teryx, North Face, and Patagonia are being seen everywhere. From their jackets, to their sweaters, to their hats, the list goes on. ‘Gorpcore’ has been a trending aesthetic for about 5 years now and does not fail to dominate every season. The addition of a bag - whether that be sling or shoulder - adds a lot of definition to the look. The voluminous silhouette of the puffers layer, the fleece zip-up covers, and parachute pants complete the look to cover all your seasonal needs.
Patterns, Patterns, Patterns
It is safe to say that ‘Grandmacore/Grandpacore’ is taking a hold on a lot of people’s closets this fall. Whether it be mixed-knit cardigans/sweaters or just the classic plaid overshirts, layering is doing it all once again. The colourful tones of autumn create a lot of contrast with each outfit.
Classic Tie
From classy to casual, the classic black tie has been an essential staple throughout the years. Its use as an intentional accessory for outfits this fall has truly been the upgrade of the season. The black & white combo is always a great option for a simple but elevated outfit.
The Puffer/Relaxed/Varsity Jackets
It is to no surprise that these jackets keep coming back. From puffers to leather overcoats and varsity jackets to top it off, these items are must-haves for your closet. The varsity’s vintage look and feel create the perfect old school vibe for any day. North Face’s Nuptse 700 has been a favourite since its release in 1992, and maintains its status to this day. Lastly, the sturdy appeal of a leather overcoat will provide a sophisticated touch to your outfit on any occasion. My personal favourite is the Carhartt Work jackets which age beautifully over time.
The fall season does not fail to be my personal ‘safe space’ season. From the endless versatility with the layering and the countless possibilities of colour combinations, this season is the perfect opportunity to revamp your closet.
