Nitsan Raiter: Mixing Fashion, Lifestyle, and Business

Once upon a time, the business and fashion worlds did not coexist. The life of an influencer was a foreign concept, and business graduates strictly worked 9 am - 5 pm jobs. While marketing was a ‘creative’ outlet in the business industry, already-established celebrities, such as Selena Gomez or Channing Tatum, were the ones being highlighted in the media. But... was there a way to use business to endorse yourself? Nitsan Raiter is proof you can.

Starting at the Schulich School of Business, Nitsan carried little to no social media presence at all. She found a love for marketing early on and opened her mind to different jobs in the industry. However, she knew this was not her end goal. Ironically, her first class assignment, “Creating Your Own Blog,” inspired Nitsan’s artistic side within the business world. She took advantage of this opportunity and developed the platform Beauty Rewritten. With the narrow marketing path in mind, Nitsan attained an internship for a start-up business and got to work on media and content creation. In 2019, Nitsan’s school friend mentioned she could see her doing something in fashion, “like Lauren Conrad.” In a world where influencers were the untouchables and only thrived if they got lucky or knew someone in the industry, it never clicked that she could be the one on the other side of the screen. “I will never forget that comment because it is when I realized I could pursue fashion in the business industry,” said Nitsan.

With a dream and merely 9,000 Instagram followers, Nitsan quit her job. Continuing full-time in school, she spent her off hours gathering content and reaching out to different brands in the industry. She mentioned, “I remember picking my little brother up from school and not taking him home until he got a good enough outfit pic for me.” I am sure we have all been there... but this was unfamiliar at the time. What was the point? Well, later that year, she saw little growth on her page and started reaching out to brands. Hearing back from her first paid sponsor, Urban Planet, acted as a sign to Nitsan. She knew she was on the right path and shifted the focus of her beauty blog to fashion.

Nitsan emphasizes the importance of consistency, advocating for yourself, and taking every opportunity presented. By no longer living with the comfort of a job, she could truly push herself and thrive in the industry - being out of her comfort zone is where she could grow the most. The idea of “fake it till you make it” was key. With no money, outfit, nor idea of what she was doing, Nitsan later made her way to New York Fashion Week in 2019. Her time there was spent reaching out to many brands and setting up meetings with people willing to hear her pitch; the pitch being herself. This idea of treating yourself and your content like a business quickly came to fruition. As Nitsan grew, she partnered with unimaginable brands like TopShop, Urban Planet, Aritzia, and Revolve.

Today, Nitsan Raiter is a very present influencer on multiple media platforms and is only growing in the fashion-business world. With 331,000 Instagram followers, Nitsan continues introducing business into her fashion-forward lifestyle. She currently owns a two-part influencer program, Mind Your Business, teaching aspiring content creators how to get a start in the industry. She creates further content on her TikTok account, her Podcast: “That's so Sabotage,” and her Youtube channel. Starting out as a university student, she could have never imagined the journey she would embark on, yet she never doubted herself in the process. If you are going to take on one message from Nitsans’ story, it is to remove the comfort in your life and make a change. Her unimaginable idea is now her reality, showing you that living happily ever after is possible.
