Spring 2021 Trends to Look Out for

The countdown to warmer weather begins. In less than 30 days, we’ll be saying goodbye to our thick puffer jackets and chunky snow boots. Spring will finally be here, and our stylish outfits will no longer be covered by so many layers. I’ve always had a hard time styling clothes for transition seasons, but my recent obsession with Pinterest has sparked so many ideas that are weather appropriate and trendy. Here are some pieces that have caught my eye for spring 2021!

Button-ups

The oversized button-up in your closet is a versatile piece that never seems to go out of season. This past fall, we’ve seen everyone wear them under leather vests or knit sweaters, and I’m sure this is going to be a reoccurring trend that follows us into the spring. Button-ups are great pieces for layering and there’s no doubt they’re a fan favourite at the office. Aritzia’s spring collection launched last week and I can’t seem to scroll past a page without seeing one. Here’s a piece of advice for finding the perfect piece… Check the thrift store! There’s always a great selection of colours and styles at Value Village that are affordable and sustainable.

Holographic Pants

Whether you’re at the grocery store or a nice restaurant, these eye-catching pants will make an impression wherever you go! These are a great statement piece that can spice up any boring outfit. Cool is a Construct is a New York company that uses deadstock fabric to produce these pants and other similar pieces. Although I’ve never bought anything from their website, it’s something I’d like to explore before the season ends.

Bring on the Pastels

There’s no doubt sage green is all over my Pinterest board. But what about lavender purple or burnt coral? Baby blue and soft yellow? Every spring, pastels make a huge comeback and add an extra layer of fun to our outfits! In the past few weeks, I’ve seen so many people buy pastel pieces with abstract prints from House of Sunny. Some of their items are currently on pre-order, but I think it’s worth the wait. Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner have been seen wearing their pieces.

Cool 70s Patterns

Speaking of abstract patterns, the 70s was definitely known for bold and funky prints. As I mentioned in my very first QFIN post, fashion follows a cycle that often repeats itself. After the revival of Y2K fashion, it’s no surprise we’re going back 5 decades and revisiting the 70s. If you’re having trouble visualizing what these prints look like, just think of Jackie and her outfits on That 70s Show

Flared Trousers

Trousers are comfortable and professional. The only way I can stay productive while working at home is if I get dressed up. Although it’s tempting to wear sweatpants all day, trousers have been a great alternative that make me feel motivated and relaxed, even when I’m just sitting at my desk. Now that they’re suddenly appearing all over Pinterest, there’s no reason not to buy a pair.
